Yes, unfortunately it’s true that Facebook keeps a log of everything you have ever searched for. Facebook’s insists that it is to “show you more relevant results”. Although this may be true, I think most people are unaware that Facebook has been storing your searches for years. The Search Activity log area is a bit hidden so if you would like to clear all or just some of your searches read below to learn how.
Getting to the Search History Activity section:
First hit that down triangle button to bring up the menu, click activity log.
Next click the ‘more’ button left hand menu.
Now, near the bottom click search.
How to delete individual Facebook searches:
You can delete a particular search individually by clicking the delete button next to the search, then click remove search in the pop-up dialog.
How to clear all of your Facebook search history:
Or at the top there is a clear all searches button to delete everything.
Downsides to clearing your search history:
If you normally have no trouble finding who or what you are looking for Facebook then there shouldn’t be any issues. I really can’t think of many scenarios where you would need to go back and look through your search history on Facebook, but this sure would be helpful to law enforcement, a jealous ex or another person trying to figure out what you’ve been up to.
