HipVine takes you through a tour of one of the most popular devices of our time. Tablets have popped up off and on for almost 40 years, so why have they only recently become popular?
The Dynabook (1968)
It all begins with the Dynabook, although never a real product, a glimpse at what would come 40 years later. This notebook / tablet concept never came to the market and was created by scientist Alan Kay in 1968. The technology needed for this product did not exist at the time but Alan envisioned being able to use this in classrooms to gather information from remote servers.
