One thing I always wanted to Master in the world of Social Media was Digg, which is one of the largest article sharing sites (and basically evolved into a full blown Social Network) on the web.
I love to write articles more than I like to chit chat so Digg seems like the perfect place for me to share my work.
People have raved about the “Server-Crashing” traffic that you could get from landing on the main page. Although, I cannot guarantee you will ever get there, I can offer some advice on how to put yourself in a position to drive a lot of traffic.
I did a little research and experimentation and here are the top tips to promote your Blog or Website through Digg.
1. Embrace the Digg Community:
Be an active Digg member, build your credibility through interacting with the Digg community.
2. Use the Features:
Use all of Digg’s features to engage with fellow Diggers such as commenting, following & following back.
Digg high quality and interesting content that you expect that many people would be interested in so people will want to follow you.
3. Really Digg
Digg several articles in a “Digging” session, if you Digg just one (which people expect to be yours) and stop you run the risk of being labeled a “paid digger” which the community dislikes.
Try to Digg original articles and not derivatives, so you become a more reliable source for Diggers.
4. Don’t just Digg your own
Of course you will want to Digg your own articles to get them on Digg, but once again you don’t want to look like a paid digger and you need to Digg other articles and build credibility for people to start responding to your own Diggs.
5. Tell people to Digg you!
As Jimi Hendrix always said “Can you Digg?” Let people know that it would mean a lot to you if they could Digg your articles and spread the word about the stuff they love on your site.
