Here are a few quick and easy tips for beginners to the world of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). These steps are easy enough for any individual that manages a website and can make a dramatic difference in your Search Engine ranking.
Add your Core keywords to the Title Tag
It’s not about a long lists of keywords in the keyword meta tag anymore. Google and the other Search Engine are getting smarter. Not to say that keywords don’t count, they do, but keep your keyword list short and to the point and make sure the most important keywords are in your Title tag.
For Example, all of the most important keywords (highlighted in bold) are in this Title:

Find high ranking websites that have similar content and get involved. Post relative comments and leave your website URL when appropriate. This will tell the search engine that your website is being talked about on other high ranking sites, therefore carrying your raking up. Never Spam, this can hurt your ranking and frustrate the Blogger which will not encourage them to approve your comment, wasting both people’s time.
Create an External Blog
Creating a Blog is a great way to climb up in Google. Google value your relative content in Blogs more than anything. So install some Blog Software in yoursite.com/blog and you are ready to go right? No, not exactly.
The best way to create a Blog is to create it outside of your domain. Similarly to posting comments outside of your site, creating a blog that is outside of your domain looks like a separate site that is talking about you, rather than your site talking about itself.
The easiest way to do this would be to signup for a Blogger account from Google. Blogger will give you a “yourname.blogspot.com” url, so each time you link back to yoursite.com the link will be coming externally from the blog and not within your domain.
The more time you spend focusing on great content the better the chance of people sharing your stuff via Social Media & linking to your Blog. The SEO happens naturally.
