Will the Kindle Fire be an ‘iPad Killer’? Well, there will still be a huge gap between iPad and any other Tablet for quite awhile, but Amazon has the right kind of leverage in certain areas that make a ‘content consuming’ device
A New Tablet wasn’t the only big news though, there is also a Kindle for only $79, two new touch Kindles – Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G – for $99 and $149 to go along with their new tablet which is a surprisingly low $199.
Amazon is quietly postioning itself as a major player in the media consumption space combining their cloud streaming video and music services together with this device, giving them similar leverage to Apple with their iTunes catalog.
It is rumored that they may even be losing significant profits off the device in exchange for getting people hooked long term on their entertainment and e-book catalogs.
