Even though Formspring was only launched 19 months ago, there are already over 24 million user accounts and 3.5 million unique visitors every day, this makes it one of the most popular sites on the interent.
What started as a company that created contact forms, transformed into an innovative idea of blending the “form” concept and tying them to a user/business account and make that data shareable, searchable and engaging.
“Basically, it’s a social site where friends get to know each other—their personality, their sense of humor and what they’re interested in,” explains Ade Olonoh, Founder and CEO of Formspring. “My sense was there wasn’t really a great way to know more about people in a deeper way.”
Formspring tries to bring a “coffee shop” conversation into the social sphere by using a back and forth nature of questions and answers.
With other alternative or niche Social Networks like Foursquare you are encouraged to gain points and badges but Formspring tries to focus on quality and relative engagement without any “extras” to encourage you to come back.
